On July 8 Facebook launched the Fan Box, which is basically a widget. Brands can use the Fan Box to recruit new fans in a more engaging way than just posting a link on other sites to “visit us on Facebook.”

Today 110 million Americans, or 60% of the online population, use social networks. This is according to a new study released by a leading “next generation” market researcher, Anderson Analytics. According to the president, Mr. Tom Anderson: “Social networkers’ feelings about brands online in general are more positive than the researchers thought they would be. Some 52% of social networkers had friended or become a fan of at least one brand.”
