On Thanksgiving

It has been a challenging year. For many, it’s been more than challenging. I personally know several who have lost their jobs, or have seen their incomes drastically reduced. I know families who have suffered loss. I know folks who have experienced significant health issues, or who have received discouraging news. It seems that we are more aware of the things that we have lost, or do not have, than ever before.

And tomorrow, our entire nation will celebrate Thanksgiving, mostly through a litany of obligatory practices – a day off of work, turkey and pie and mashed potatoes and more pie, football, and maybe even a spending spree the day after. It seems fitting then, especially in light of our current times, that we be intentional to do more than the obligatory. And that means being truly thankful.

What do we have to be thankful for? Well, for most of us, we still have our families, so we can be thankful. For most of us, we still have our health, so we can be thankful. For most of us, we still have means of income, so we can be thankful. We can be thankful for our friends. We can be thankful for our country. We can be thankful for our leaders. We can be thankful for our children. We can be thankful that we have a roof over our head. We can be thankful that we have food to put on the table tomorrow. We can be thankful for our bosses. We can be thankful for our employees. We can be thankful for our clients. We can be thankful for our vendors. We can be thankful…

Although some of us have lost much, all of us have much still to be thankful for. Let’s spend some time this Thanksgiving to be truly thankful.

At Covenant we are thankful for many things – our clients, our partners, our staff, and the many relationships we’ve made over the past several years. From all of us here at Covenant we want to wish you a happy and safe Thanksgiving.
