Recently, my husband and I read Financial Peace Revisited by Dave Ramsey. I definitely recommend it to anyone who is looking to get out of debt and live life not afraid finances. However, all of our buying decisions are a lot more thoughtful. Every dollar is accounted for. I have found I relate more with the “free spirit” that Ramsey describes in his book. I am not flippant with my money, but I do tend to feel constrained if I cannot splurge on things here and there. Last Sunday, my husband and I went grocery shopping. For most groceries, I am more than happy purchasing the generic brand. However, I do have my “things” that just can’t be replaced by off brands.
For example, when it comes to yogurt, I am a fan of Yoplait Whips. I’ve found that I can easily get burnt out on “normal” yogurt. My husband and I were trying to look for ways to save money at the store. As we approached the yogurt aisle, I quickly announced, “I can’t change. If we buy that kind, I know I won’t eat it.” Spoiled? Maybe. But I’ve grown so accustomed to Yoplait that other brands just don’t compare.
Anyway, in our world of marketing, we strive for brand ambassadors like this. Those that will not forsake their brand for a little extra money and who will even blog about it Think of ways of how you can differentiate your brand from leading competitors. This doesn’t necessarily have to be the price tag. Also, social media marketing is a great place to start finding your brand lovers. We’re always here to help you get started!
